Asha Maria Thomas joined St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam as Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics in 2014. She did her K 12 education from Marygiri CMI Public School, Koothattukulam and then proceeded to University of Hyderabad for the 5-year Integrated M.A. in Economics. She completed the course with a CGPA of 9.40/10 and was awarded the University Gold Medal in 2012. During the course of the study she has done two internships; at Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram and Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore. After her graduation, she was placed at Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, as a Research Associate in the Centre for Emerging Markets Solutions (CEMS). At ISB, she co-authored a report titled, “Job Market Aspirations of the Indian Youth – How do low income workers make their career choices?” She started her teaching career in 2013 as an Assistant Professor in Economics at Pavanatma College, Murickassery, Idukki. She is a FLAIR awardee of the Government of Kerala and was selected for the FLAIR international training programme (2015-16) at the University of Derby, UK. Her areas of specialization are Macroeconomics and Econometrics.
