Dr. Bijoy V.M. joined St. Albert’s College as a Guest Lecturer in 1997 in the Department of Zoology and became a permanent faculty in 1999. He has specialized in the area of Fish Nutrition. He was awarded the Teacher Fellowship (TFS) of the UGC for a period of 3 years for his doctoral work under the FIP scheme. He was awarded Ph.D. by the Cochin University of Science and Technology for his thesis “Efficacy of Fish Silage Incorporated Aqua-feeds from Squilla Oratosquilla Nepa in Growth and Survival of Labeo rohita, Cirrhinus mrigala and Macrobrachium Rosenbergii”. Since the study focused on the development of low cost fish feeds from trawl discards, the work was widely acclaimed and published in reputed National and International journals. He was the Chairman for the PG Aquaculture Syllabus Revision Committee, Chairman for the UG Aquaculture and the UG Industrial Fish and Fisheries Syllabus Revision Committee of the Mahatma Gandhi University, Board Member of Question Paper Setting Committee of Calicut University, External Examiner for the conduct of PG practical examinations of Calicut University, Member of the Pass Board of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) and Additional Examiner in the Board of Examiners (KUFOS). He has convened almost 5 seminars cum workshops, participated in more than 50 seminars (National / International) and taken part in Refresher Courses and Orientation Course as well as Winter Schools conducted by various Central, State Government Institutions / Agencies. He received a Consultancy Project from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in 2018 in fish farming. He has a life membership in SOFTI and Marine Biologists Association. He is the Secretary of the Board of Studies of the Department of Aquaculture, Treasurer of the Department and Member of the Discipline Committee of the College.
