Dr Jovitha Lincy V J joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology w.e.f. 1st December 2021. She teaches Zoology for B.Sc. Industrial Fisheries and M.Sc. Zoology Students of the Self-financing section. During 2009-2011 period, she was associated with the department as an ad hoc lecturer after completing her master’s degree from this College. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor on Contract, in colleges affiliated under Kerala University and Mahatma Gandhi University. PhD degree was awarded in Life Sciences, Marine Sciences and Microbiology from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad (an Institution of National importance), in July 2021. Holds Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree in Natural Science. She has cleared lectureship eligibility tests, both National (NET) and State (SET) levels. She was included in the Kerala PSC rank list for Zoology – HSA, HSST and Assistant Professor. After clearing CSIR JRF, with All India rank 36 in Life Sciences and ICMR JRF in 2011, she worked as a research fellow at CSIR National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa. She has published research articles in National and International reputed journals and presented papers at international conferences. Also, won best poster award in an International Symposium organized by Scientific Committee on Ocean Research (SCOR), UK, Working group 144. She is a recipient of an International travel grant sponsored by the German Government and presented her research work on ‘Anammox microbes in the Indian Ocean at Kiel University, Germany. She has been serving as a reviewer for Taylor and Francis Group journal since 2020. She aims to get collaborative research projects from National and International organizations. She served as a convenor for an International conference on Climate Change organized in connection with the Albertian Knowledge Summit 2022. She has guided several UG and PG dissertations and would like to guide students towards a PhD. She has expertise in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology techniques. Contributed 10,000+ gene sequence to GenBank (NCBI) database. Also, very proficient in using much software related to Life Science Research. Dr Jovitha’s research interest includes Microbial Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Bioremediation and Taxonomy. She also provides career guidance to students interested in Biological Sciences.
