Dr. Krishnakumar K. S joined St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam as an Assistant Professor in 2013. He completed his Pre-Degree from Sacred Heart College, Thevara in 2001 and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry in 2004 from Maharajas College, Ernakulam. He obtained his Masters Degree in 2006 in Organic Chemistry from School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam with University First Rank. He began his research career in synthetic organic chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. In 2007 he was awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Chemical Sciences under the CSIR fellowship scheme. After his research experience from IIT, in 2007 he joined at University of Claude Bernard Lyon1, France from where he obtained his PhD in bio-organic chemistry (nucleoside chemistry and peptide-RNA conjugates) under the supervision of Prof. Peter Strazewski. He got the fellowship from the European Union Research Programme Synthcells (FP6-NEST-Pathfinder STREP No. 043359) for his thesis work. After completing his PhD in 2010 he moved to Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany as a Post-Doctoral fellow in the research group of Prof. Gunter von Kiedrowski to work in the area of DNA – nanotechnology (Fellowship – European Union FP-7 MATCHIT) . He joined National Institute of Technology in 2012 as an Adhoc Assistant Professor and in the same year he moved to Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode as an Assistant Professor where he worked till 2013. He is an approved research guide of Mahatma Gandhi University and his research group focuses on synthesis of biologically important nucleoside analogues and their structure-reactivity studies by computational methods. He has published 10 papers in internationally reputed journals, 10 papers in conference proceedings and a book chapter. He had a UGC funded research project on development of nucleoside based therapeutic compounds. He has presented his research works in various reputed institutes in India, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and U.K. He has convened 3 international conferences and several seminars including a UGC sponsored national seminar. Currently he is serving as Dean-Research and Assistant Controller of Examinations of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous).
