Dr. Nisha Thomji Varghese, Deputy Controller of Examinations and Assistant Professor, Department of English, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam has a teaching experience of 20 years. She completed her undergraduate studies from Assumption College, Changanassery and went on to do her Master’s in English Literature and Language from St. Berchmans’ College, Changanassery. A rank holder for both M.A and B.Ed. she has specialized in Language and Linguistics as well as Resistance\ Literature. She has served as the Dean, Quality Assurance, Head of the Department of English, NSS Programme Officer, master trainer for ASAP (an initiative by the Government of Kerala to equip selected school/college students with skills in communication, IT and selected areas of industry and service sectors) and is a motivational speaker for adolescents. Nisha has also spearheaded many charitable initiatives including Drachma Yon (a Rupee a Day Programme for rehabilitating the underprivileged) and Lebenah Aheb (a house building project for one of the support staff). She is the Associate Editor of the Albertian Review of Literature, a peer reviewed journal of the Department of English. She was awarded PhD from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in 2018 for her thesis titled Beauty for Ashes: The Resilient Metamorphosis of the Marginalized Afghan Women in Select Works. She is an enthusiastic and focused teacher committed to safeguarding and promoting the academic acumen of her students as well as reinforcing their self-esteem and intuitive thinking. She provides a rich and varied education for all her students by facilitating and encouraging innovative learning experiences.
