Ms. Vijayalakshmi C G joined as a Government Guest Lecturer in the Department of
Physics, St. Albert’s College Ernakulam in June 2019. She has completed her M.Sc. in
Physics from Mahatma Gandhi University specializing in Theoretical Physics and also
qualified UGC-CSIR NET in Physical Science. Prior to joining St. Albert’s College,
Ernakulam Ms. Vijayalakshmi worked in the Department of Physics, Maharaja’s College
Ernakulam, Department of Instrumentation, CUSAT, Government Model Engineering
College and Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara. She has around six years of teaching
experience at the UG level. She was a recipient of the IIST Junior Research Fellowship
(January 2015-July 2016) and the IUPAP travel grant for attending the Career
Development Workshop for Women in Physics 2015 conducted by the International
Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy from 12-16 October 2015.
Ms. Vijayalakshmi believes that engaging students is more important than lecturing
them. In her classes, she always tries to give subject oriented activities and minor but
thought-provoking problems for the students to ponder on and solve within and without
the class. From time to time, she takes feedback from the students and asks them to
point out what they have and haven’t understood which helps her to get a good
understanding about where the students stand with respect to the subject know-how.
Apart from her academic engagements, Ms. Vijayalakshmi likes to engage in reading,
travelling and music during her free time. She plays the Veena and enjoys classical
fusions.
